Why did we change the Natural Vitamin B12 from methylcobalamin to hydroxocobalamin?Updated 5 days ago

Dr. Berg has transitioned to Hydroxocobalamin because it offers a more stable, long-lasting, and versatile form of Vitamin B12 compared to Methylcobalamin alone. While Methylcobalamin is excellent, Hydroxocobalamin offers several "superior" physiological advantages, making it a better foundation for a high-quality supplement.

1. It Stays in Your System Longer
Think of standard B12 (Methylcobalamin) as a quick "burst" of energy that your body flushes out fast.

The Upgrade: Hydroxocobalamin is like a sustained-release version. It binds more tightly to the proteins in your blood, meaning it stays in your system much longer to provide steady support throughout the day, rather than a quick spike and drop.

2. It’s a "Two-in-One" Solution
Your body actually needs two different types of B12: one for your brain and nerves, and another for physical energy in your cells.

The Upgrade: Hydroxocobalamin is a "master" form. Once you take it, your body can naturally convert it into whichever type it needs most at that moment. It lets your body decide exactly how to use the fuel!

3. It Helps "Clean" the Body
Hydroxocobalamin has a unique "vacuum cleaner" effect that other forms of B12 don't.

The Upgrade: It is designed to support the body’s natural detoxification pathways. Assisting in the removal of metabolic byproducts is a great way to maintain a clean internal environment and support a healthy response to everyday stress.

4. It’s Gentler for Sensitive People
Some people feel jittery, anxious, or have a racing heart when they take "Methyl" vitamins because their bodies process them too quickly.

The Upgrade: Because this form is not yet "methylated," it is much gentler on the nervous system. It provides all the power of B12 without the "wired" or overstimulated feeling that sensitive individuals sometimes experience.

5. The "Clean" Choice: Natural vs. Synthetic
Most inexpensive B12 supplements use a synthetic form called Cyanocobalamin. While it’s cheap to manufacture, it has a significant hidden downside that many people don't realize.

The Problem with Synthetic (Cyanocobalamin): This form is manufactured in a lab and contains a trace amount of cyanide. To use it, your body must first "detox" the cyanide and then spend energy converting the B12 into a form it can use. This can be stressful for the liver and is very poorly absorbed by many people.

The Natural Advantage (Hydroxocobalamin): This is a natural form produced by healthy bacteria through fermentation—the same way B12 is created in nature. Because it is already bioactive, your body recognizes it immediately. There is no "cyanide" to filter out, making it much easier on your system and far more effective.

If you have a health condition or are taking medications, we recommend speaking to your healthcare professional before using any supplements.
